This month we had the joy of speaking with Yuliia Luchyk.
Yuliia joined NCSL in 2022 as a Scheduler and has since progressed into her current role as Non-Housing Administrator. Originally from Ukraine, she holds two master’s degrees – one in German and English languages and another in Theology. Following her studies, she became a professor of German. Now, she has her sights set on returning to university to study a field related to IT.
One of Yuliia’s favourite aspects of her role at NCSL is the opportunity to collaborate with different service areas. She also enjoys working alongside her family members, who are also part of the NCSL team. Yuliia was drawn to her current position as she believes in making the most of every situation.
Outside of work, Yuliia has a deep passion for the arts. She trained at a musical academy in her youth and enjoys ballet dancing, playing musical instruments – including the violin and piano – and volunteering. She is also dedicated to supporting fellow Ukrainians as they settle in the UK, often assisting as a translator.
Looking ahead, Yuliia hopes to be settled in her homeland and ideally back in the classroom teaching again within the next ten years. A fun fact her colleagues might not know? She has an unexpected fear of cats!
Yuliia leaves us with these words of wisdom: “No matter who you are, what your position is, or who you meet, always be kind – you never know what battle someone else might be fighting."
Thank you Yuliia.
