Are you a passionate SHEQ professional looking to make a real impact on workplace safety and environmental standards? NCSL is seeking a dynamic Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Advisor to join our team and help shape our safety culture.
About the Role:
Working alongside our SHEQ Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our safety, health, and environmental standards across multiple operational sites. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to strategic safety initiatives while handling diverse day-to-day responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
You will provide expert guidance on SHE legislation and policies, conduct thorough site inspections, and develop comprehensive risk assessments. Your role involves delivering engaging health and safety training sessions and supporting our ISO 45001 management system implementation. You'll work closely with senior management to drive continuous improvement in our safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance, particularly in areas such as CDM, asbestos control, and building safety.

The Ideal Candidate:
We're looking for someone with a NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification, and membership of IOSH or IIRSM. You should have significant experience as a SHEQ Advisor, preferably across multiple operational sites. Your expertise should include incident investigation, risk assessment, and the delivery of safety training programs.
The ideal candidate should also hold a full UK Driving License with no more than 6 points in order to meet the travel requirements for the role.

This position will have two interview stages taking place on 24th January 2025 and 30th January 2025.

Requirements

  • Health and Safety NEBOSH Certificate, or similar qualification/level of experience

  • Evidence of continuing professional development and/or membership of professional body, i.e. IOSH or IIRSM

  • Possess a detailed understanding of relevant SHE legislation, guidance and practice

  • Able to predict and drive change in a rapidly changing environment

  • Understanding of wider/strategic including government policy and legislation affect local government and how they impact on the Strategy and Services.

  • Uses knowledge to analyse and solve problems with an appreciation of possible longer-term implications and to make decisions on requirements of the service and its development.

  • Experience of delivering H&S TBT’s and Workshops.

  • Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 6 points to meet the travel requirements of the role

  • Strong working knowledge of the full in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
